Artificial intelligence has high expectations in various industries, but what is the value of the industry and the company?
Representational artificial intelligence techniques such as machine learning, natural language processing, recommendation systems, etc. have been applied in many industry scenarios. Artificial intelligence, however, is not a panacea, and companies that adopt it can not succeed in the short term.
There are many uncertainties in the path of intelligent transformation, and how to accept and tame the emerging technology of artificial intelligence is a complex issue for every player who adopts intelligent strategy.
In order to summarize how the world's leading companies implement and land the AI strategy, and to give a summary of the results after implementing the strategy, we selected 145 representative listed companies from 17 different industries after investigating 640 companies on the Fortune Global 500 list from 2013 to 2017. It released the report on the strategic adaptability of AI in the world's top 500 listed companies.
I. trends in the topic of artificial intelligence
The total amount of AI news released by highly adaptive companies increased steadily from 2013 to 2017 and peaked in 2017.
In 2013~2017, the annual growth rate of artificial intelligence topic news released by high adaptation company was 133.5%.
2014 was the fastest growing year for high-tech companies to release news on artificial intelligence topics, with an annual growth rate of 187.5%.

Two, the AI industry pays attention to heat.
From the perspective of accounting, high adaptability companies mainly focus on finance and technology. Competition in these industries is relatively fierce, and practitioners are willing to accept new technologies and develop new markets. However, among the companies that adopt intelligent strategy, the industries with relatively high conversion rate of high adaptability companies are food, medicine and energy industries. (Note: The conversion rate here refers to the ratio of highly adaptable companies to all target companies in the corresponding industry)
Among the target companies, there are more highly adaptable companies in the financial and technological industries, with conversion rates of 32.2% and 19.3% respectively.
The industries with higher conversion rate of high adaptability companies are food and drug, enterprise service and science and technology, with conversion rates of 100.0%, 50.0% and 48.0% respectively.
Aerospace and defense, chemical engineering, engineering, building materials, retail industry has not found a highly adaptive company.
Three. The timing of AI strategy.
Machine Heart Observation found that the trend of AI strategy adoption of high-adaptability companies is basically consistent with the trend of AI strategy adoption of target companies in Figure 4.5. However, when the concept of AI is hot in 2016, many companies are not eager to enter, but choose to enter the board in 2017.
2012~2017 the annual growth rate of highly adaptive companies using AI strategy is 109%.
In 2014 and 2015, high adaptability companies adopting AI strategy grew faster, with annual growth rates of 400.0% and 140.0% respectively.
2013 the new increase in the adaptability of the company decreased compared with the previous year, the annual growth rate changed to -66.7%.
From 2015 to 2017, the annual growth rate of high adaptability companies adopting artificial intelligence strategy decreased year by year, and the annual growth rates were - 260.0%, - 73.3%, and - 61.7%, respectively.
